Cambridge, MA – May 23, 2023 – Wicket, the leading facial authentication platform provider, today announced the appointment of Alastair Partington as President. Partington joins Wicket to drive aggressive growth and expansion of the company’s proven facial authentication capabilities, building off Wicket’s initial successes delivering transformative solutions for sports venues.
Since its founding in 2021, Wicket has developed a comprehensive facial authentication platform based on patented computer vision AI technology. Wicket technologies have been successfully deployed for facial ticketing, credentialing, access control, and facial payments in numerous sports stadiums, including FirstEnergy Stadium (Cleveland Browns), Lower.com field (Columbus Crew), and Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC. These deployments have delivered significant improvements in fan experience through faster entry times, while streamlining security, lowering costs, and reducing the burden on stadium personnel. Wicket-powered solutions have also been deployed in corporate environments such as Allegiant Airlines’ headquarters, improving security while providing employees with frictionless entry.
Partington joins Wicket as part of the company’s investment in growth in its core sports & live events sector, while expanding into broader facial authentication applications across other industries.
“Alastair brings a unique combination of deep industry knowledge and leadership skills,” said Sanjay Manandhar, CEO, Wicket. “I look forward to seeing him guide Wicket’s growth and expansion beyond Sports & Live Events to become an industry standard for superior facial authentication and access.”
Partington was a co-founder and CEO of biometric identification company Tascent, which developed and deployed tailored biometrics solutions in travel, border control, workplace access, and other sectors worldwide. Prior to Tascent, Partington spent twelve years at Accenture, most notably building their Unique Identity practice.
“Incredibly rapidly, Wicket has established itself as the preeminent provider of facial authentication technology in the sports industry,” said Partington. “I am excited to join Wicket at this significant juncture in its growth, to help the company deliver on the immense opportunity that high-performance, responsible, cost-effective facial authentication can bring to all industries.”
Partington graduated from University College London with a BSc in Astrophysics. A competitive sailor in his spare time, he resides in Minnesota with his wife and two young children.
