As one of the biggest conferences in the tech industry for decades, Salesforce Dreamforce is always looking for ways to scale while maintaining a positive attendee experience.
While the event grew in size over the years, the physical space for registration and badge pick-up could not. This created long lines and suboptimal first impressions. Driven by their value of Trust, Salesforce approached Wicket to change that.
Check-in is the first touchpoint for guests and sets the tone for the event. The main metric being measured by Salesforce was the time it takes to check in and receive a badge. Adding Wicket to this workflow made the check-in and badge printing process 3x faster compared to general badge pickup.
Our integration with RainFocus (the conference management platform of choice for Salesforce) gave all attendees the option to enroll in Digital Pass express badge pickup as part of event registration.
Enrollment in Digital Pass was opt-in only and anyone could opt out at anytime. This is core to Wicket’s approach to responsible use of facial authentication.
As soon as a Digital Pass user was identified and checked in, their badge automatically got added to a printer queue, significantly reducing time from check-in to badge print.
Customers exclusively own the database where information lives, and all Personally Identifiable Information (PII) lives on the cloud, preventing 3rd party access or sharing.
Staff at express check-in lanes had dedicated devices, which empowered them to assist guests.
Compared to traditional check-in process using name lookup on a computer or scanning a QR code.
Dreamforce keynotes attract the most attendees out of all sessions, with thousands of attendees entering at the same time. Digital Pass lanes were set up at the keynote entrance to help prevent long lines. 25% of guests used these express lanes to scan into the keynote, with lines virtually nonexistent.
Digital Pass enrollees (for check-in) could also use it for express access to specific sessions, such as the keynote.
Access to backstage areas was made easier by adding select staff to lists for expedited entry at checkpoints that quickly confirmed access permissions. This also tightened security and reduced the burden on staff to check credentials.
Wicket facial authentication helped to streamline the flow of pre-enrolled staff at designated credentialing checkpoints.

Dreamforce 2024
After seeing the benefits of Wicket’s system at pilot events in 2023, Salesforce ran a successful rollout at Dreamforce 2023 with more than 8,000 check-ins utilizing Digital Pass. In 2024, Salesforce deployed Digital Pass at numerous events and expanded the use at Dreamforce, making Digital Pass the primary check-in method. The results speak for themselves.
Check-in was such a seamless and easy experience—I couldn’t get over how quickly it recognized me and how fast I got my badge.
