VENUE PROFILE

Ahead of the 60th annual BAUHAUS-galan track and field meeting, which served as the fifth leg of the Wanda Diamond League series of events, organizers worked with Wicket to implement “Fast Track” entry for fans and VIP guests, as well as staff and volunteers. The combined solution enhanced the overall event experience for all who used it.

Stockholm has welcomed the world’s best athletes at the historic 1912 Olympic Stadium for six decades. Our mission is to deliver an exceptional experience for every guest while making event operations as seamless as possible for our staff and volunteers—and by embracing innovation, we can honor that tradition while continuing to raise the standard for everyone involved.

GOALS

Fast, Secure & Personalized

BAUHAUS-galan has established itself as a premier gathering of elite track and field athletes, and attracts guests from across the globe. One of their goals for the 60th annual Bauhaus-Galan was to implement fast, secure, and personalized experiences for their guests. The decision was to create dedicated “Fast Track” access lanes using the Wicket platform.

1

Fast

Allowing fans to use their face as their ticket has been proven to increase ingress speed by 4X

2

Secure

Wicket is a privacy-first platform, is opt-in only, and all data fully encrypted

3

Personalized

Every guest who enrolled to use the “Fast Track” lanes were greeted by name

Training

Getting Staff Up to Speed

Prior to the event, ticketing staff were able to be trained on using the “Fast Track” lanes. Thanks to the intuitive user interface and the use of the second-screen operator mode devices, staff members were able to be up and running after a 10-minute training. The portability of the devices also allowed staff to easily move and adjust the lanes.

Onboarding and set up only took a couple of hours, and using the Wicket Edge and Wicket Admin applications was super easy. I was able to walk around with an iPad and train staff in minutes.

Deployment

One Platform, Multiple Uses

Multiple Wicket-enabled touchpoints were deployed throughout the stadium for the event, consisting of ticketed entry, accreditation checkpoints, and VIP access. Due to the historic design of Stockholm Olympic Stadium, there were unique constraints and limitations that needed to be accounted for—but the flexibility of the Wicket platform allowed organizers to customize the design and layout of the lanes to cater to enrolled users and staff alike.

1

Ticketing

Thanks to an integration with TicketCo, fans were able to use their face as their ticket in seconds flat

2

Accreditation

Staff, marshalls, and volunteers were also enrolled to speed up in-house accreditation touchpoints

3

VIP Access

VIP guests received emails to enroll and were provided with a personalized “white glove” experience

The Results

A Better Experience

BAUHAUS-galan were thrilled with the results of their first event using Wicket, and everyone from guests to staff praised the ease-of-use. Hundreds of access decisions were made during the event, with an average decision time of less than 1 second.
